Revelation 1:12-16 |
|
Revelation 1:13-16 This painting is inspired by Revelation chapter one, verses 12—16. John is having a vision of Jesus. Jesus has in his right hand seven stars, and he has seven candlesticks around him. His face is shining as the full sun, his hair as white as snow and his eyes like fire. This is similar to the description given in Daniel chapter 7. He is wearing a white robe to his feet, with a golden girdle around him. His feet are like bronze in a furnace. By turns Jesus is about to praise and admonish seven Churches. (Symbolized by the seven candlesticks) These seven Churches are thought to be Churches of John’s day (first century) and also Churches of the entire Church age. (This is the Prophetic Historic interpretation.) Out of his mouth comes a two edged sword; Ephesians 6:17 ‘The sword of the spirit is the word of God.’ His words sound like roaring waters. John has fallen in a faint at the vision’s feet. Yeshua(Jesus) says; “Do not be afraid. I am the first and the last. I am the living one. I was dead, but behold I am alive forever and ever and I hold the keys to death and Hades.”
